Perhaps, insofar as most British Conservatives might aim to conserve a status quo that includes their monarchy. Apparently "blue blood" derives from the veins visible beneath the pale, translucent skin of the privileged. In medical illustration, blood returning to the heart, sapped of oxygen, is blue, and once replenished, red. Consider the term "red blooded Americans", which describes, we gather, a people that loves to vote whether red or blue.
