For my money, the U.S. flag is the best flag in the world.
I mean just look at it! The vibrating stripes, the sparkling stars, the proportions (10:19). It is simply glorious.
It is also more interesting that most flags. It’s complex, allegorical somehow. Which might be accounted for by its gradual development/evolution: You can read all about its history on Wikipedia. (Apparently Betsy Ross had nothing to do with it!)
To be honest, I’m feeling pretty good about the election right now. A kind of calm has descended. In the last two U.S. elections I was like many people, almost apoplectic. To say I had misgivings would be an understatement. There was a lot of fear back then, and talk about fascism too.
Four years later, as the 2020 election approached, the viper-like antagonism between Dems and Republicans was again deeply disturbing.
I don’t feel like that now. There are reasons for that, of course, but they don’t really matter so much anymore. I have a lot of faith in the Red, White and Blue, however things play out tomorrow.
Good luck America. Break a leg!
P.S.
Notwithstanding U.S. Code Title 4 Chapter 1 § 8, I wouldn’t mind cozying up under this as the election results come in.

The most moving rendition of The Star Spangled Banner1 I have ever heard was the opening of a ball game, on TV or radio I don’t recall, sung by Ella Fitzgerald. I cried. I’ve tried to track down a recording of it, to no avail. It it was a very long time ago, but if you have any ideas, please let me know.
