Has anyone else tired of making sourdough? Can one undo a previous year’s resolution? No, no more than we can undo the madness of the Covidtimes?
As conspiracy theories go, if there was ever a plot to destroy the store bought white bread industry, this is it!
But seriously, we love our sourdough, costly though it is to produce. Let’s not talk carbon footprint, let alone time. But a more delicious soup companion you will never find, or one as substantial.
I lost my sourdough mojo for a while there, my boules lost their spring. Seeing me deflated, a friend asked if I was looking after my sourdough starter. I wasn’t. I had gotten lazy and stopped paying attention to the cycle of discarding and feeding. So I started a new starter, now named Leopold V (yes, been there a few times) and the results have been swell ever since. Roughly tallied at 3 small loaves every two weeks, I figure I’ve made over 200 loaves since 2020. Ha.
